The Aussie YA book you grew up with.
My first Aussie YA book I read was Feeling for Celia and it was given as a birthday gift. I remember devouring it in one night, it blew my 12-year-old mind. In my tween years, I also read the Girlfriend Fiction series.
Favourite Aussie YA book released in 2016.
Don’t make me choose between Summer Skin by Kirsty Eagar and Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley!
Aussie YA debut you are looking forward to.
I was really looking forward to Frankie by Shivaun Plozza earlier this year. Right now, I am extremely excited for Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland to be released.
Favourite Aussie YA series.
Jaclyn Moriarty’s The Colours of Madeleine Triology and the Ashbury/Brookfield books as well as Melina Marchetta’s The Lumatere Chronicles.
Unexpected Aussie YA surprise.
The Yearbook Committee surprised me this year. I was expecting something light and fluffy. However, at the end I found myself being very moved. Also, the feminism in this book is superb.
Aussie YA book you always recommend to others.
Feeling Sorry for Celia by Jaclyn Moriarty. Reading this book is honestly a prerequisite to be my friend. (I wonder how many times I can reference Jaclyn Moriarty in this post!). However, since February I have also been recommending Summer Skin.
An Aussie YA book on your TBR.
I haven’t read any Claire Zorn so I am looking forward to read One Would Think the Deep.
